ONE DAY REDESIGN I create a comfortable environment in an area or room using furniture and accessories you currently own. The Process – I interview you to determine your general style and how you want to use the room in the future. I review the room to determine which pieces fit the new concept and “shop” your home for furniture and accessories that will enhance the room selected for the One Day Redesign. I remove items that do not complement the look you want, add the pieces taken from other rooms and position furniture and accessories to create a room you love to be in. You may be present during the transformation, it is not required. When furniture and accessories are in place I create a Finishing Plan with suggestions for additional items for you to purchase and actions (such as painting) you can take to move the area closer to your ideal. Estimated Time is 3 to 4 hours for an average size room
DECORATING PROJECT Redo one or more rooms. This is a more comprehensive remake of a room and can include cosmetic changes to the room such as painting, wallpaper, new moldings etc. Depending on how extensive the decorating, as well as budget and time considerations the decorating project can be completed in a couple of weeks or spread over a few months. This is a very good choice if you do not have a lot of furnishings in your home now. The Process I start with an interview and an onsite review of your existing space. I work with you to develop your vision for your home and at our next appointment I provide you with options to implement the vision. Together we determine which furniture and accessories to keep, and which items to repurpose elsewhere. I also make a list of furniture, accessories, rugs and window treatments needed to complete your space. We finalize selections for paint, wallpaper, moldings, etc. for contractors to apply. You decide if you want me to shop for furniture and accessories or provide you with a guide to use when you do the shopping. Once the updates to walls, floors and windows are complete I position your retained items and new purchases to create the room you dreamed of. The result is a space that is uniquely and comfortably yours.
DESIGN CONSULTATION Design Consultation helps you develop the vision for your home. The Process I start with an interview and an onsite review of your existing space. I work with you to develop your vision for your home. I then provide a project plan which consists of floorplans and suggestions for colors, wall finishes, furniture, rugs, and accessories.
You complete the project.
SHOPPING Shopping service to purchase the items identified in your redesign plan.
The Process I shop for items that can be personalized for your unique look in local retail stores, consignment/thrift shops, flea markets, online and in catalogs. My specialty is finding items that in their “as is” condition do not fit in your room and then converting them to objects that enhance your space. I use paint, fabric, polymer clay and other materials to update these finds. The opposite is sometimes true – the perfect accessory is hiding behind unnecessary embellishments which I remove to reveal a stylish original. I also provide guidance if you prefer to work the magic yourself. Shopping Services are offered two ways – For you – I shop for furniture and accessories to enhance the look you have chosen – economically. With you – I accompany you to consignment, thrift and affordable retail shops to look for your treasures. I show you what to look for and help you see past the current state of “as is” items.
A note on shopping for used furniture and accessories:
I like this type shopping for the bargains to be found – I often discover excellent quality items at prices well below retail. However, the real appeal for me is the individuality of the items. You acquire unique pieces that complement your individual style. These pieces often come with a history or patina that adds a timeless quality to your home – especially if it is relatively new or has little architectural interest.
TRANSITIONS Move In I arrange furniture in your new home to suit your personal vision and your new space. I make suggestions on color choices, wall coverings, window treatments and new purchases. Combine Belongings I arrange furniture and accessories when you are combining two (or more) households. The result is a home with a new personality created from the pieces you both love. Down Size I help you choose which pieces to keep when moving to a smaller space and the best way to dispose of items you no longer need in a way that will benefit both you and a new owner.
